Michael Dudok de Wit was born in Holland. ... In 1992, he created his short film "Tom Sweep." His film "The Monk and the Fish" was nominated for an Academy Award® in 1994. "Father and Daughter" won an Oscar for best animated short film in 2000.

"Father and Daughter":
A father says goodbye to his young daughter and leaves. As the wide Dutch landscapes live through their seasons so the girl lives through hers. She becomes a young woman, has a family and in time she becomes old, yet within her there is always a deep longing for her father.

"The Monk and the Fish":
A monk discovers a fish in a water reservoir near a monastery. He becomes obsessed with the fish and tries everything to catch it. Gradually the story becomes more symbolic.

Lamentablemente el TVrip de "El monje y el pez" es de canal A, del programa "Caloi en su tinta", con colores muy lavados que no hacen honor al trabajo de Dudok de Wit y que puede apreciarse en la versión de que programa "Locomotion" en la sección "Locotomia". Igual vale la pena tenerla por la bellisima empatía entre imagen y música.

El trabajo de de Wit es un prodigio de sencillez y delicadeza, con una carga emotiva que conmovería hasta a un botijo.
Como bien ha dicho NitteZtalker la sincronía entre el dibujo y la (maravillosa) música es de una belleza hipnótica. Es de esa clase de sustancia que se te queda pegada desde el primer visionado.
