# The Case Metropolis (43:52 min.): This by Enno Patalas presented documentation is simultaneous likewise not only a "Making OF", but also a history of the German film of the time at that time and the course of Fritz long. It is structured very good and commentated. To the majority the film from technical view is analyzed here. Many of the trick photographs, which are to be seen in Metropolis, are explained. All film sets are almost shown and described easily understandably. Also on the role of the music is received here, which is by the way to be heard during the entire Making ofs in Dolby digital 5,0. An important component is the history of the different versions of "Metropolis". Patalas describes here, how the film was changed and shortened after its German premiere by Paramount. The documentation ends not with "Metropolis", but told also still the further career/development Fritz Langs, from which also short interview statements are to be seen. Compared with the usually ueberschwaenglichen "Making ofs" this documentation is noticeable to that positively by its calm and material style, the spectator the history of "Metropolis" nevertheless interesting mediated.

The exact procedure of the restoration is described here and made descriptive also by direct picture comparisons. In the comparison to the detailedness of the film documentation this contribution precipitates only somewhat briefly. In view of the really amazing result of the restoration such wrong modesty would have been not at all necessary, since for technically film-interested a quantity of information is described here to the methods of the film restoration, which could be quite still in more detail.
