REPARTO: Eduardo IV es coronado rey de Inglaterra en una etapa de prosperidad. Su hermano trama una siniestra conspiración para alzarse con el trono. Es un hombre jorobado, ambicioso y siniestro. Para hacer caer a su otro hermano, el duque de Clarence, propaga una serie de rumores falsos, por lo que le ejecutan. Cuando el rey muere, el príncipe de Gales es todavía un niño, por lo que Ricardo se convierte en su tutor. Tercera y última adaptación de una obra de Shakespeare por parte de Laurence Olivier, después de Hamlet (1948) y Enrique V. La puesta en escena combina teatro y cine. Lo mejor es la actuación del propio Olivier, como el inolvidable rey ambicioso y jorobado. Durante dos generaciones nadie se atrevió a interpretar ese personaje. (DECINE21)
