Sinopsis:
El nombre de Carol Reed siempre ha ido ligado al de Orson Welles, debido a que le dirigió en ‘El Tercer Hombre’, y son muchas las conjeturas que se han hecho sobre si fue Reed o Welles quien dirigió dicho film. Para los que dudan de que fuera el primero, les recomendaría que le echaran un vistazo a ‘Larga es la Noche’, realizada dos años antes que ‘El Tercer Hombre’, y con la que guarda más de un parecido.
La película narra cómo un grupo de terroristas irlandeses, comandados por un hombre llamado Johnny McQueen, realizan un atraco en el cual Johnny resulta herido y es abandonado por el resto del grupo. En una carrera contra reloj deberá sobrevivir durante toda una noche por las sombrías calles de Belfast, mientras la policía pone en marcha todo un dispositivio para darle caza. Al mismo tiempo será buscado por la mujer que lo ama, la cual intentará ayudarle.
