AMG SYNOPSIS: Fritz Lang's classic early talkie crime melodrama is set in 1931 Berlin. The police are anxious to capture an elusive child murderer (Peter Lorre), and they begin rounding up every criminal in town. The underworld leaders decide to take the heat off their activities by catching the child killer themselves. Once the killer is fingered, he is marked with the letter "M" chalked on his back. He is tracked down and captured by the combined forces of the Berlin criminal community, who put him on trial for his life in a kangaroo court. The killer pleads for mercy, whining that he can't control his homicidal instincts. The police close in and rescue the killer from the underworld so that he can stand trial again in "respectable" circumstances. Some prints of the film end with a caution to the audience to watch after their children more carefully. Filmed in Germany, M was the film that solidified Fritz Lang's reputation with American audiences, and it also made a star out of Peter Lorre (previously a specialist in comedy roles!). Working from the true story of the Dusseldorf child murders, Lang matches a mother's anguished calls for her daughter with images of an empty stairwell and a lost balloon rather than show the killing, while the murderer's obsessive whistling becomes the calling card for his threatening presence. Beyond the use of sound, Lang takes a pessimistic view of German society, using editing to equate the police with the criminals, while Fritz Arno Wagner's fluid cinematography creates a gloomy night world of shadows and paranoid entrapment. Lang's documentary-like attention to the details of the search, combined with the absence of non-diegetic music, matches the stylization with an equally creepy element of realism. Es posible que se trate de un error en datos técnicos y capturas. Tampoco cuadra la duración (1:49:46), a no ser que hayan incluido algunos extras.
El grupo CHD generalmente lanza 3 versiones: HD 1080p / HD 720p / BD 480p, y los HD suele tener un peso mucho mayor (ripeos 720p / 1 DVD=4,37 Gb.)

La estoy descargando para comprobar el tema.
Si al final se tratase efectivamente de un HD, yo mismo me encargo de unir los hilos.

Al margen de errores en los detalles técnicos hay un dato que confirma que es un 720p y son las capturas cuyo tamaño es de 848px × 720px, que se puede comprobar al verlas, por lo tanto habrán copiado y pegado los datos técnicos de otro ripeo o algo les habrá pasado.

Ocurre que 848x720 arroja un AR de 1,17 y el de Fronky 856x720 con un AR de 1,18. que se ajusta mejor al original

En efecto, el AR de la versión original en la IMDb es 1.20:1, pero en DVDBeaver se indica 1.18:1 (curiosamente en la review, las capturas de Eureka MOC están a 1.20:1 y las de Criterion a 1:18:1 )

En cuanto a la duración, parece correcta (datos tomados de la review de DVDBeaver):

La descarga va un poco lenta, aunque ya han aparecido 3 fuentes completas.

El AR más cercano al correcto es el de Criterion, porque la captura de Eureka tiene el 1.20 pero no está bien cropeada y el IMDB no es nada fiable puesto que indica el AR "oficial" que siempre lleva banda negra cuando lo compruebas con el fotograma del DVD correspondiente de ahí que los AR correctos difieran de lo que marcan tanto IMDB como dvdbeaver que aplican los AR con fotogramas negros que para nosotros nos ocupan espacio y no nos sirven para nada

Tendrás alguna captura de esas proyecciones, tal vez con un buen filtrado quitamos el gotelé...

Estuve dándole vueltas a trasladar la presentación completa de la edición Criterion al primer mensaje (que publiqué inicialmente en un hilo distinto creyendo que se trataba de una versión 480p), pero como Burt ya había incorporado otra...
De todas formas, si te gusta, silba y lo edito....

En cuanto desatasque el HD (me apaño con una partición de 40 Gb de un vetusto pero indestructible portátil), me bajaré también tu ripeo de la edición Eureka MOC... esta peli la tengo en VHD, DVD (Divisa), 3 avis y un mkv.
