Sinopsis:

Cuatro pasajeros que no se conocen entre sí viajan en un avión hacia Los Ángeles: David es un abogado cuya esposa está a punto de separarse de él; Eddie, un viajante de comercio bastante gracioso; Binky, una aspirante a actriz algo decepcionada con su vida; y el doctor Fortnes, un hombre que va a entregarse al fiscal del distrito por haber matado a tres personas mientras conducía borracho. Éstos están interpretados por Gary Merrill, Keenan Wynn, Shelley Winters y Michael Rennie. Tras un accidente del aparato, solo David logra sobrevivir, sintiéndose en la necesidad de ir a visitar a las familias de sus compañeros de viaje.
Adaptación de un relato de I.A.R. Wylie, en una producción de bajo presupuesto de Nunnally Johnson que obtuvo críticas bastante malas acusándola de confusa y poco creíble. Aparición de Bette Davis en un breve papel de mujer impedida.



Una de las mejores películas de Jean Negulesco, al menos en mi opinión, con Gary Merrill en la mejor interpretación de su vida. El actor estaba viviendo un tempestuoso romance con Bette Davis, tras el reciente rodaje de "Eva al desnudo" (All about Eve, 1950), y aquí la Davis hace una breve e intensa aparición al final, y tras contar su experiencia amorosa, termina con la inolvidable reflexión:

"De él aprendí lo que significaba
el amor de verdad.
No el frágil y pequeño capricho
que nos avergüenza y que se rompe
por orgullo, vanidad, o lástima...

Eso es de niños...
de niños pequeños y tontos.
¡Pero un roca es tan fuerte
como la vida misma!

El video que os proponemos es el de Roisiano, por ser el mejor, pero el doblaje de Cinefilototal y Moonriver que le he sincronizado, cuadrará bien con cualquier DVDRip. Este doblaje ha sido otra sorpresa (yo no recordaba que la hubieran puesto doblada), y la voz de Baltanás se adapta poderosamente a la interpretación de Merrill.
