En este caso, resulta ser un microcosmos que recoge los problemas de la sociedad con la delincuencia (poco menos que los atrae) y sirve como reflexión sin límites sobre cuales son los verdaderos problemas: los delincuentes juveniles que no pueden ir a la cárcel por culpa de la edad y que siempre se le echa la culpa a la sociedad, las triadas malas (tambien las hay buenas, también), los especuladores,... De todo ello y de una cierta pasión por la pena de muerte van dando cuentas las distintas historias que forman la película y que además cuentan con las coreografías de un tipo que se haría especialmente famoso: Tony Ching Siu-Tung. Además, nos podemos entretener buscando en la película a Bruce Li o Danny Lee.
Pues eso, una especie de poliziesco italiano a la hongkonesa, por momentos...
Synopsis: Popular kung-fu star Chan Koon Tai turns in a charismatic lead performance in The Teahouse, a powerful melodrama with tough action and some surprising social commentary. Chan Koon Tai is Big Brother Cheng, a former refugee who runs a local teahouse in Hong Kong. Respected by his peers, Big Brother Cheng runs the teahouse - and unofficially the neighborhood - with a firm righteous hand. However, when the triads come calling, Big Brother Cheng finds out respect and common decency may not be enough. The triads use underage kids to terrorize the teahouse, and since the law won't do anything, Big Brother Cheng may have to step in and take care of it himself!

This Teahouse may not live up to its cover blurb ("a tough and tender landmark of the kung fu genre"), but this is an effective social drama nonetheless. -- Kozo
