Monty Python's short solo movies (MP, 1969-1981)

Aquí tienen cabida todas aquellas series, programas, anuncios, etc. que tragamos durante tantos años, cuando no existía Internet y ni siquiera podíamos elegir.

Monty Python's short solo movies

Lo and behold! (drums, trumpets) For here are at last the short films by the members of Monty Python.

What solo movies, you ask?
The films that time forgot.
The bits they never repeated on TV.
The jokes some people last saw almost 30 or 40 years ago.

Story Time (including The Christmas Card) (1968)
An early example of the stream-of-consciousness animations made by Terry Gilliam.

Beware of the Elephants (1967)
This animation by Terry Gilliam almost certainly was part of Do Not Adjust Your Set.
The show had several animations featuring elephants, as can be seen in some documentaries on Monty Python.
Part of the series was recovered and released, but the rest was wiped and this short clip must have been part of one of those episodes.
"Beware of the Elephants" is not the same as for example "Elephants in War".
Perhaps there were one or more episodes where elephants were the recurring theme of all animations, but I am just guessing that.

The Miracle of Flight (1974)
A third animation by Terry Gilliam, this time in colour.

Away from it all, voice: by John Cleese (1979)
Where shall we go to escape the frenzy? To Venice perhaps? Anyone care for more of those f*cking gondolas?

This mock travelogue was shown in theatres before Life of Brian, but never included on any dvd.
Almost 30 years afterwards, people still remember this slowly deranging travel film.
The genre has now disappeared from the theatre, but this short spoof will certainly bring back memories for those who remember these obligatory films.
(A travelogue was a sort of commercial impression of an exotic holiday the movie-goers were forced to watch before they were allowed to see the main feature.)
Others who, like me, are too young to have seen them, can enjoy the slow, almost undetectable pace in which the pretentious narrative spirals downwards until at last, its true character (madness) becomes clear.
(Imagine if you will, if you were an unsuspecting viewer at ease in a seat in a cinema somewhere, at what moment you would get the joke.)

The Box (1981), voices: Terry Jones and Michael Palin

The longest of these short movies, "The Box" is perhaps least famous.
It does not seem to have stuck in anyone's memory.
I had to create its page at the IMDB a few years ago because it simply wasn't there.
Judge for yourself what you think of it.

And as a bonus: What Did The BBC Ever Do For Us? starring John Cleese and several BBC celebrities.

Note. Some of these items are not in pristine condition, but only very acceptable to good.
Sorry, these are the best copies I could find. And in some cases, the only copies.
Considering how extremely rare this all it, I am sure that the quality is only a minor inconvenience.

When I uploaded "Monty Python's Short Movies", I didn't include these three industrial films.

The Great Birds Eye Peas Relaunch of 1971
The Harmony Hairspray Relaunch of 1973
Close-Up Toothpaste

Warning! The quality is medium at best!
Nevertheless, it is a genuine piece of Monty Python, and has some funny moments and also a few familiar characters like Biggles, mr. Gumby, a host of Wickers, and Luigi Vercotti.

Algunos de estos cortos ya estaban publicados por aquí de forma individual, pero me parece lo correcto dejar el post tal y como se ha publicado en fileheaven.

Saludos.
