I've been away for a little too long, so may I reintroduce myself with a bang: The biggest flop Blake Edwards ever produced?

Synopsis:
In 1970, director Blake Edwards and his actress-wife Julie Andrews joined forces for a musical based on the life of legendary double agent Mata Hari that became one of the most infamous flops in cinematic history. In addition to exceeding both its budget and production schedule, DARLING LILI suffered from a serious tonal confusion that made it difficult to classify as either a comedy or drama--not to mention the fact that lavishly overblown musicals were considered hopelessly square by the time of the film's flower-power release date. Andrews nonetheless delivers an achingly lovely performance as the title character, Lili Smith/Schmidt, a WWI-era German spy who sings at a Parisian nightclub and uses her feminine wiles to milk military secrets from her Allied clientele. When Lili falls in love with one of her unwitting informants, the dashingly handsome American soldier William Larrabee (Rock Hudson), she suffers a crisis of conscience that puts both of their lives in danger. Enlivened by a romantic score by acclaimed composer Henry Mancini, the film benefits greatly from this 1990s director's cut made for the TNT cable network, which shortens the running time and solves its original tonal dilemma with a darker, more dramatic sensibility.

Judging from the initial reception afforded Darling Lili, one would have thought Blake Edwards and Julie Andrews had committed a horrible crime by foisting this movie upon the public. Time has helped to correct that judgment, and Lili can now be seen for what it really is: an unfocused and overproduced film with enough assets to make it an entertaining way to spend an evening. Edwards's screenplay is the chief villain; it is a mish-mash of genres -- comedy, drama, spoof, musical, spy film, adventure, epic -- that tries so hard to be faithful to each genre that it never develops a consistency or personality. The changes in tone are frustrating and damage the film, but not fatally, and the film does raise some moral issues which it handles surprisingly well. More importantly, the film showcases Julie Andrews's many talents, allowing her to play a more complicated character than in many of her previous roles while still giving her the chance to let loose with a song in the manner that is uniquely hers. Her performance of "Whistling in the Dark" is especially memorable. There's little chemistry between Andrews and Rock Hudson (whose performance is only adequate), but there's good support from Jeremy Kemp. Edwards's camerawork is exciting (especially in the aerial sequences), and the costumes are period perfect. Lili has been shown in several different forms, each of a different length; the "director's cut" version is the most consistent, stylistically.

Una película como ésta hay que ponerla ya mismo en distribución, sin perder el tiempo en ofrecimientos, de los que ni yo me enteré.

Los subtítulos están desincronizados a partir de 1:04:20. El problema es del subpack, pues si extraes los subs en ingles o frances tienen el mismo problema y la misma desincronización que afectan a cinco líneas de diálogo.

El arreglo hay que hacerlo manual. Intentaré en estos días ponerme con ellos, pues a partir de esa sexta línea, aparentemente el problema se reduce a un delay constante hasta el final de la película
