"Tonic Dominant" is basically a metaphor for music creation. The three days in the young musician's life correspond to the three movements of a classical sonata, each one containing its inner structure of dramatic development and all three leading to a final conclusion. On the first day, the protagonist goes through a situation of loneliness and fragility. On the second day, what should be a nice meeting becomes a nightmare. On the third day, the young musician finally finds peace through music. Being a film about music, there are almost no dialogs and the story is narrated mainly through the integration of image and music.
