Azure sigue intratable en FH lanzando Criterion's con ganas. Para Gritos y Susurros hay unos subtítulos en español de chonclitos en este hilo o en Extratitles que lógicamente no eran para este archivo; bajaré esta nueva copia de Criterion y veré si es posible la sincronización; si alguien la baja antes que pruebe él mismo. Por este motivo incluyo la VOSE en el título del hilo. En el audio parece que se le ha quedado corta la mano, el propio azure lo comenta, esperemos que no sea grave.

Review

Ingmar Bergman's great 1972 film is about the elemental things: death and dying, sex, injury, repression, and the body as a fount of sustenance. No wonder Bergman chooses to focus on female characters, in this case three sisters--one of whom is dying of tuberculosis--and a maid who is the only one capable of caring for the ill woman. The film is noteworthy for many reasons, not least of all an interesting camera style that marries beautiful imagery with an anxious frame. That tension perfectly suits the overlapping psychodramas of the piece, but this is a movie that ultimately pushes beyond the particulars of these characters' virtues or neuroses to a greater mystery, one that somehow sustains our existence while slowly taking it away. Bergman's best film certainly deserves the best quality. This new version is ripped from the Criterion Collection, and is much better quality than the PostX rip released here
The audio bitrate is a bit low, sorry about that, this was my first rip long time ago (hardly noticeable though). Other than that, enjoy!

Nuevo ripeo sobre la edición Criterion, ahora en 2cd y audio ac3. No hay capturas, wicker man comentó que se trataba de un ripo a partir de un dvd-r del Criterion, lo que no sé es si ese dvd-r estaría comprimido. Si alguien lo baja y pone capturas perfecto. Tampoco debería haber problemas para ajustar los subtítulos en español ya existentes. El bit rate es altísimo y encima ac3, no sé yo como andará en un reproductor casero.

Pues a la espera también de que esos subs estén listos. Ya no recuerdo si la copia anterior que tengo era doblada o la VOSE con esos subs de chonclitos (problablemente la segunda) pero esta tiene demasiada buena pinta como para dejarla pasar.

Azure ha hecho una comparativa en el hilo de FH entre la versión publicada por él, la que he posteado aquí, y la anterior con firma PosTX también realizada sobre el dvd de Criterion pero en divx3. La mejora es evidente pero sigo con la mosca tras la oreja por lo del audio, aún no pude previsualizar. De estar demasiado chafado el sonido no estaría mal algún apaño con el audio de la otra versión o tal vez pedirle a Azure que recodifique el audio de nuevo y lo comparta por separado:

So, for two rips of the same dvd, there is a quite big difference, isn't it?

PostX has excellent image and it is from criterion.

Indeed it is, my bad. Somehow i had the impression it was not, due to the absence of the logo at the start and the slightly different color shades (as shown in the screens above)

And as others have stated above, the sound quality looks appealing.

As mentioned in my original post, I am aware of this flaw. However, as also mentioned in my post, this is hardly noticeable in the movie.
Those familiar with the movie know a significant part of the movie is silent, there is hardly any music (which demands a high bitrate). For the voices, the bitrate is enough, without any audible loss.

So do as you deem fit

Please tell what's wrong withe PostX rip.

Because of the DivX3 codec, and probably some filters used, the image quality is less sharp and the red shades (predominant in the film) slightly different than what they really look like on the dvd. (see above screens)

I'm kind of a grp-rls freak myself, always think of grp-rlses as definitive versions of a movie. However, I do make exceptions for movies which look better on the non-grp-rls, or come from a better dvd source (cuz internals are usually pretty rare, suppose they are released at all)


Final note on the quality for downloaders:
Choose this rip if you want the best image, or the PosTX rip if you want the better audio. Just trying to give you an alternative, because this film deserves it. Cheers.

Si, se ve mejor, esta claro, pero el audio a 46 kbps es realmente un fallo tonto...de todas formas, cualquiera se resiste...

Acabo de hacer una comprobación, muy superficial eso si, y los subtítulos de chonclitos parecen estar ligeramente atrasados(unos diez segundos) nada que no se pueda solucionar facilmente.

No la he visto entera, pero por encima no hay sonidos de fondo o siseos o defectos serios, un mp3 corriente y moliente como tantos otros del que uno no se da cuenta de lo que se pierde hasta que escucha el original
