How I miss films like this!

I cannot express in words how this film affected me. It's not just the story, but more subtle things as well - the art direction, the music... the pace. It is an ideal animated film; it brings into balance the whole soul and body. I hope that you, too, will like it.

After you're done watching... some questions to ponder:
-Was it worth it for the tree? It begins the story tall and proud, but never having flowered. It ends the story having flowered for the first time in its life, but bent and with a hole/den right in its heart.
-Who's best off in the end, the tree or the cat?
-Will the cat come back?

There are no easy answers here.
