Cane-Toad (Andrew Silke & David Clayton, 2002)

This CGI-animated short is narrated by Baz’ friend Daz (“My mates call me Dazza”), whom we meet lounging in the neighborhood dog bowl. This foul-mouthed, flatulent amphibian is wondering aloud about his mate Baz, who sadly has gone missing. The film describes the various scenarios that Daz spins regarding how Baz may have met his doom.

Polar Bears (Pierre Coffin, 2003)

It's a bit of quintessential British Comedy as a put-upon polar bear stands with injured arms, hands outstretched in casts, fending off jokes... "Hey, Gary, how big was that fish you had the other day...?"
And it really is quite funny.
Gary's Fall is one of the Polar Bears animated shorts done for the British show Lenny Henry in Pieces on BBC1. The four Polar Bears live together in a concrete enclosure in a midlands zoo, and each short follows a different drama in their everyday lives as exhibits in that zoo.
The comedy revolves around the bears' concerns about captivity, ambition, sex and the general human (polar bear) condition, and is the perfect vehicle for Lenny Henry's sharp observation of character and human foibles.

Walk (Jeff Drew, 2001)

Jeff Drew’s definitely got something here. With a few computer programs (and scanning in characters drawn on notebook paper), he’s created a fascinating world where chain-smoking grandmas get hit by cigarette trucks, sidewalk preachers babble about shoes, and dogs break dance. More specifically, Edgar is out walking his dog Gigi and they encounter all the aforementioned people, but it is when they walk by two guys (one with a boombox) that Gigi shows his skill. It’s funny alright, and Drew’s production company logo, complete with hacking granny, keeps up the fun after “Walk” is over.

Attack of the Note Sheep (Jess Scott, 2004)
<img src=http://img335.imageshack.us/img335/2647 ... 0002ok.jpg width=600>
Traditional 2D composited with live action footage)– Although filmmaker Jessica Scott is obviously a brainiac–she’s a grad of Texas A&M Visualization Laboratory–she also has a devilish sense of humor. We won’t give away the punch line to this short-short, but let’s just say it’s pretty brutal if you happen to be a hand-drawn sheep! Says Scott, "The idea for the animation came from a couple of college friends who would always draw sheep when they were bored in class. I picked up the habit, and took it with me to grad school, where I created this short."

On the Sunny Side of the Street (Soulcage Department, 2003)
<img src=http://img335.imageshack.us/img335/4115 ... 0012jx.jpg width=600>
This is one of Soulcage's most interesting films. Even though it uses modern CG techniques, it looks like an old Charlie Chaplin film from the early 1920's. The film shows a sequence of events from two different points of view. It was a hit at SIGGRAPH 2003, and won several awards. ...
