Young Renée is a bubbly, fun-loving, young woman. She has a very close relationship with her young father, but her relationship with her stepmother is not so good. Consequently, her husband "deports" Renee without further ado to a boarding school in Switzerland. But the self-determined girl quickly proves to be rebellious. Her rebellious nature is considered bad behavior and causes her stepmother, barely older than herself, to lead her husband to keep Renée there for the upcoming holidays.
But she does not want to be away permanently. Renée puts on pants and dresses up as a boy. Then she travels to Italy, to Tuscany. In Florence, a delicate, sensitive artist discovers the "boy" and asks Renée to model for him. The painter wants to have her for his planned painting, "The Violinist of Florence". Renée, always a little over the top, quickly falls in love with the artist and serves as his muse. The young man captures the scene of Renee playing the violin in his studio. Indeed, "The Violinist of Florence" is a great success.
The painting soon makes a splash, and her father finds it in a magazine. Of course, despite her boyish disguise, he instantly recognizes his daughter and immediately travels to Florence to bring Renée back home. The painter, however, has fallen in love with his model and does not want to let Renée, whom he now recognizes as a girl, leave by any means. The father agrees to a marriage of the two.
