This film tells the extraordinary story and adventure of the welsh miners of Tower Colliery: their fight against Mrs Thatcher and her no-more-welfare-economic war politics, their decision of becoming masters of themselves in order to preserve the job and to use their redundancy benefits to buy the mine.
Jean-Michel Carré apparently refuses to take sides: there is no voice over but he is so touched by the strong passion of the miners that you’ll perceive his subtle direction, his great sensitivity.
