"There’s a widely held theory that children always rebel against their parents.
So what do you do if your dad happens to be a contemporary of Andy Warhol and
one of the most important avant-garde filmmakers of the 1960s? If you are Azazel
Jacobs- whose father is abstract impressionist filmmaker Ken Jacobs- does rebellion
mean turning to mainstream Hollywood fare? Hardly, if Jacobs Junior’s feature
length debut Nobody Needs To Know is anything to go by....
Using a reggae dub soundtrack and B&W photography, Nobody Needs To Know is a love
story to New York and its people, starring Norman Reedus and Tricia Vessey, mostly
shot before the city lost two prominent buildings and innocence.
Unconventional, challenging - and oh, did we mention that it’s got some really hot
young actors and actresses in it? Nobody Needs To Know reminds us that even in the
current climate of the ever-more-expensive thrill, the avant-garde can still show
the mainstream a trick or two." - SIMMY RICHMAN, I-D Magazine, 2003

[SPECIFIC INFO?]
The film's official website (http://www.nobodyneedstoknow.com) describes the movie's
story:
"Young black man about town, "Lamont" (Alvin Seme) pushed by the constant surveillance
of his everyday life, discovers the real power is offscreen. At the same time an actress,
Iris (Tricia Vessey) refuses to "die" in a casting, which in turn piques the interest of
the director (Matt Borum). She returns to her east Village apartment she shares with
another actress, "Mira" (Liz Stauber) who is desperate for fame whatever the price.
Iris retreats in her room, seemingly setting off a trend of people saying no, one of
them being Kurt (Norman Reedus) who disapears from the movie being shot outside her
house. As Iris searches for something real, in the city and in herself, Lamont sets
off a wave where the real nobodies step out and into control."
