Oyster Girl, I couldn't find much information about it. Co-directed by Lee Hsing (who directed Beautiful Duckling, and is also on the top 100 greatest chinese films list) and Lee Hsia. It's also a contemporary romance that takes place in a fishing village between a fisherman and one of the girls who raises oysters. There's also an drunken dad and an evil rascal pursuing the oyster girl while the fisherman's away. The beginning of the film starts off like a documentary showing the girls in the oyster farm mending nets and singing and the men pulling their carts piled high with baskets. The ending is a little melodramatic but satifactory. Again, the color is simply beautiful in that old color photo way.
Landmark of Taiwanese realism cinema, this is the first film of great Taiwanese director Lee Hsing, the most influential Taiwanese filmmaker of his time. It's the first color film of Taiwan and the only film cooperated between Lee Hsing and his brother Lee Chia. Stunning photography with beautiful composition. A five stars naturalistic film masterpiece.
