Pinocchio Pip*nose

Mensaje por Fitzcarraldo » Jue 17 Feb, 2005 18:56

With his Pino*chio Pip*nose Hous*hold Dil*mma, Paul McC*rthy shows that interfaces don"t always have to be a complicated business. Contact with the world of this American artist is established by dressing in red&yellow coveralls, enormous red plastic shoes and a mask with a long tube for a nose. Dressed in this low tech interface the audience can see on video how another Pinocchio - Paul McC*rthy himself - covers himself in ketchup and chocolate paste.

The installation is characteristic for McC*rthy"s vision and that of his pupil Mike Kelly. For more than twenty years, McC*rthy has done performances and installations using recognisable puppet figures. A rabbit with a yardlong penis or an idyllic garden where a man becomes one with nature by sticking his penis in a hole in a tree. His images always at first appeal to a beautiful fairy tale world. Immediately afterwards they become slighty shocking with their references to the rancid or animalistic that is hidden directly behind the benign facade. The Pin*cchio Pip*nose Hous*hold Dilemma installation will, as an interface according to McC*rthy"s vision, make visitors think twice about whether or not the fairy-tale world they were extras in was nothing but one big lie which, in any case, would explain the long nose on their masks.
Due to some recent events I will not state, this seems to a bit dangerous to release this is why you are getting straight away  I like troubles.

Lets just say I have more "fear" of the museum that holds the right to this, then the f*cking MPAA. Please download it and share widely with caution, either ways this is unknow material too much of you.

Please mods dont put on the name of the post any indications to the guys name, a google search can lead here. I hope not to regret of sharing this.

The guy is a very intelligent, well-read, funny, bold motherfucka. You may actually laugh loud while watching his videos, not a thing that happens often with videoartists - I haven't yet seen this one but I feel I can recommend it. He's also making big money with this shit  The curious will find a lot of interviews on the net. Remember that one of his early videos was in the first volume posted of "Surveying the first decade". More will follow.

well because he is a plastic artist like Barney, because is tapes cost more than 100€ each, because if this is discovered the lawyers of the museum who hold the rights to this will be on our tails, because McCarthy is very famous, and this is the kind of material guarded to the 'social elite' persons who dont have problems giving a lot of money for his works and because this is from the museum circuit, exibition videos, it's not to have at home. That and much more I'm afraid...

Vale, la sigo compartiendo.
what do you think about what the 'elite' sees?
