Hi, faustroll!
Well, it all depends on the structure of the dvd. If it has been properly divided into chapters, then the easiest (though perhaps longest, but best) way is to rip the dvd files (with DVDDecrypter) to HD, each chapter independently. You'll have to change the names of the VOB files (the program asks you to) and then convert them one by one. I advise you to use Gordian Knot. If the DVD is not divided according to he shorts, then you'll have to rip it as a whole, and split it with VDub, or preferably AviUtl, since it lets you mark frames as keyframes and do a clean cut.
We're waiting...

Ok.. I'll try to do something but the problem is DVD's structure is interesting. There are titles of films and when you run every title there are also the story and other features about the film. Someway in text someway in images. When I tried to reach from 'vob' files they are not splitted, in one file there is some part of the film and during another part of another film. It seem tough but I'll try again some other solution methods.
Good bye,
Does anyone know about are there any Alain Robbe-Grillet movie on the net?

Using DVDDecrypter, this is the structure (mode IFO) of a badly done DVD:

If this is your case, go to the File Mode and copy to HD just the VOB file where the short is located. You can then use DVD2AVI to create a d2v file selecting just the short you want to rip (recommended). Or rip the whole file and cut it with vdub or aviutl.
If the DVD appears like this:

all you've got to do is select the program chain of the short and copy it to HD.
Don't be afraid to ask

Hey, I made an avi file but there is again a problem with its sound. Do I have to encode its music seperately or how is it happening? I used DVD2AVI tool. I selected the source and then recompress it into divx format. And one more 'ignorant' question; after I finished the process how do I share it? Just by adding to share folder...

Which tools are you using to encode? Just DVD2AVI?
EDIT: Use GordianKnot. You can find it and a complete guide at
http://www.doom9.org
To share a file you can move it to the "incoming" folder or share another one ("preferences"-->"folders").

Finally I made it but I didn't watch whole of it again. I didn't see any problem when I tracked it down and also shared it. Here is the link:

Thanks a lot and welcome to DXC, faustroll!
And what else you said was included in that DVD?

BTW, it would be really interesting to get the film this short is based on. I've been looking for "East of Borneo" on emule but I'm not able to find it.Rose Hobart, de Joseph Cornell. EEUU. 1936-39. 20 min. 16mm
