As promissed here it is

I decided only to post this B&W version, I own the longer tinted version, but it's possible that I may track a nicer quality print, about 85% of the tinted version is watchable, the rest is in some way watchable but very bleached? dont know the word... I can post it if any request, and I will post it, if I'm unnable to track that better print I saw, but only has a last resort.

Made in 1970 and directed by controversial Japanese filmmaker Shuji Terayama, Emperor Tomato Ketchup is a High concept underground film about a world were children rebel against their opressive fathers and create a new society made up of sex, role playing, and eventual violence. Kind of like perverse Lord of the Flies, the film piles on the style and the shocking imagery in order to create the utmost artistic affect on the viewer. It has gained cult following, due largely to the fact that Stereolab named their 1996 album after the film.

This film is child pornography, pure and simple. Don't burn these awful images onto your retina like I did. I have seen some weird stuff, and I don't mind people watching anything, but this is CHILD PORN. That's just wrong man...

This whole movie is contrived. The production quality is low, and obviously not much thought or time was put into how to execute it. The point is interesting: what if children somehow ran society? But none of the causes to that hypothetical situation are explored, and of course none of the consequences. It's just an excuse to make a stag film with children. disgusting.

I'm actually more curious about this shorter, B/W version than about the tinted one.
It seems this movie it's much more talked about than actually seen, there are almost no first hand infos about it on the net, Amos Vogel briefly reviews it in "The end of sexual taboo" chapter of "Film as a subversive art", Jack Hunter mentions it in "Eros from hell" but he clearly hasn't a clue of what really it's about - he writes without having seen it. So sharing it is an important contribute to an informed discussion, at the very least

Sure Trep go ahead, there are no subs but the main porpose is it to transmite a message trough imagery, the language is not important here.

Just one word, on the film, the movie is has strange and disturbing as it sounds like, there were images that haunted my head for days, my mother requested to see this film because I talked to her about it, she almost forced me to erase it, saying that it was just to much, in her words pure evil, not in evil as devilish fiendish creatures, but so real it scares, I loved this film, I was thinking on passing it on a screening I'm going to do on a university, but I just dont know... I really dont know

Se bajó hace un par de días y lo acabo de ver y no sé, me ha dejado una sensación extraña (q tb puede deberse al resacón q tengo ahora mismo).
Esos niños interpretando en la película papeles de adultos te hacen reflexionar en el comportamiento de los adultos por norma. Cada uno es libre de bajársela o no, pero yo particularmente creo que merece la pena verla y juzgarla por uno mismo. Tiene imágenes que chocan, aunque teniendo en cuenta la polémica que acompaña a esta película me ha parecido más inocente de lo q me esperaba, con un fondo hasta didáctico, y desde luego, de pornografía infantil no creo que tenga nada.

Hay una voz en off q suelta alguna parrafada de vez en cuando en japonés y supongo q el texto q aparece en pantalla es la traducción de lo q dicen al alemán. Aunque se puede ver sin entenderlo sería estupendo que alguien pudiera traducir esos textos.

Estaría bien q opinárais cuando la veais.

Vale, recojo el testigo. La vi hace un par de días y, como tú, me sentí un poco decepcionado. Después de leer algunos comentarios de más arriba me esperaba algo más... no sé... ¿repulsivo? ¿impactante? En mí no generó ninguna reacción, salvo quizá algo de perplejidad y aburrimiento. Y eso teniendo en cuenta que algunas imágenes sí resultan chocantes, pero en conjunto es una obra, en mi opinión, blandita, y que no consigue transgredir como pretende. Una mezcla entre "El señor de las moscas", aquella película de Chicho Ibáñez Serrador de niños asesinos y algunas escenas de Lynch mal asimiladas.

Y de pornografía infantil nada de nada, como ya era de esperar.

Ya la he visto yo también y si tuviera que definirla con una palabra la definiría como "festiva". Tiene puntos muy "sweet movie" (que es mejor).

I've included the review frim imdb because I found it very funny, I also included my mother opinion, because the film those transmite an eerie feeling when watched, she just did not know how to deal with it... well at least there several full sources now
