John Waters described this film as more intense than Pasolini's Salo. I must say I disagree. This film starts out intensely, and contains some nerve wracking suspense but fades into mediocrity as the graphic murders begin. It does contain a couple of very disturbing scenes of the murder of young boys but is by far less gory, or brutal than say Wes Craven's Nightmare On Elm Street (which is considered entertainment),this film was made as a statement but not as entertainment. Even Salo is not as violent as a Freddie Krueger film, and that character is an icon to some. Neither Salo, nor this film in any way titillates and though I in no way blame anyone for being offended by either film, accusing the filmmakers of promoting sadism or pedophilia makes me wonder if those who accuse have really watched these films (at least seriously). If you want to see a disturbing, exploitative film - watch Cannibal Holocaust. That film is trash. This film, as it is, is interesting (and yes, disturbing) but it is only a partially successful meditation upon the depths of human depravity.

Auess, this is a spanish relatively-good-known film, titled "tras el cristal" here.

It's possible to a foreign viewer to appreciate this film, but it's hard to us: it has the worst acting of all cinema history (i think). Never a film were more incredible just only for the voices of the actors.

All possible emotional response is destroyed by the bad-theatrical dialogues and pronunciation.

If you don't understand spanish, possibly will like it.

Eheh, you seem to really hate this movie Citovel!

I've seen it on tape and found it very intense. I must say, as much as I love Waters, I think it really have nothing to do with Salò; it seemed to me to paint a dark and gloomy picture about love bonds based on dependence. As it's impossible to deal with love without dealing with power, one may say that it has this in common with Salò, that both deal with power in a superficially similar way (the nazis, the violence against children). But there are really no love in Salò; here we see some kind of love and reciprocity. Maybe that's what upsets some people...

(Damn! Writing in english for me is like walking with shoes made of concrete!)

(I thought the little girl's acting to be quite impressive, btw)

A former Nazi doctor-turned-pedophile, paralyzed from the neck down
after a suicide attempt, is forced to accept a boy as his nurse under
