Sinopsis:
(FILMAFFINITY)
Wernher Von Braun pioneered rocketry in the 20th Century. The first half of the film depicts him and fellow engineers in Germany during World War 2, working on rockets to bomb London. The second half takes place after the war in USA where their research was again co-opted for war (Korea). Only after Russia's Sputnik was von Braun's desire to reach space finally addressed.
Rather than a typical biopic drama, the cinematography - deep focus and wide angle lens, shadowing lighting, fast-paced editing - makes the film more of a thriller. Brief well-integrated rocket failure stock footage adds to the urgency for the need to succeed. At times it's so intriguing that you can easily forget the film is suppose to be factual.
Imdb indicates this was shot 1.37, although one might assume it was shown widescreen in the cinema. The blu-ray is zoomed in so there's no option. From the Umbrella Entertainment release, "Amazing True Tales, Volume 1: I Aim at the Stars / Man on a String."
