Adaptación de una novela de Maj Sjöwall y Per Wahloo -los mejores representantes de la literatura negra sueca- con la que Widerberg consiguió la que posiblemente sea su mejor obra. No sólo evidencia un perfecto sentido de la atmósfera sino que articula el ritmo narrativo con precisión milimétrica en unos resultados casi redondos. No tiene nada que envidiar a las mejores muestras hollywoodienses del género (Fotogramas).

Police lieutenant Nyman is murdered in his hospital bed and Martin Beck and his colleagues have another murder to solve. They discover that Nyman was a very brutal and tough policeman who received many complaints about his brutality. Particularly interesting is a complaint from Åke Eriksson, whose wife died in police custody because of Nyman. Eriksson climbs up on a roof in central Stockholm and starts to shoot at people on the street below... (IMDb)

Politics and crime cross paths in this action drama in which the police are attempting to capture alive the murderer of a police official who grievously abused his power. The official was murdered in his hospital bed, and his murderer's identity is carefully uncovered by painstaking police work. However, before long the culprit announces himself in a bold way by shooting down every policeman he sees from his rooftop perch in Stockholm (All Movie Guide).
