Bueno, los hitchockianos estamos de enhorabuena, pues por fin ha aparecido en la mula una versión COMPLETA de esta obra de Hitch. El autor es Neuromante de Tripilandia.es. Hasta ahora habían muchos fragmentos y versiones incompletas en la mula y en Youtube. Yo los recopilé todos e intenté hacer un montaje, pero faltaban varios minutos y quedaba una chapuza. Así que no publiqué el resultado y opté por esperar. Parece ser que el ripeo proviene de un VHS obtenido de una emisión de la peli en la TV británica y la calidad es aceptable. Por supuesto, en VO y sin subtítulos. Pero es un musical y se sigue bastante bien

Sinopsis:

Elstre Calling se considera el primer film musical británico. Consiste en una serie de sketches, supuestamente filmados en tiempo real en los estudios Elstree. Presentado por el actor cómico Tommy Handley figura que el espectáculo está transmitido por la incipiente Televisión. El pretexto de la peli, el hilo conductor, es precisamente el nacimiento de la Televisión. Esa maravillosa invención está representada por un aparato con pantalla que se niega obstinadamente a funcionar. Los sketches sobre la TV están dirigidos por Hitchcock, junto con un episodio llamado "Thriller" y una burla a "La Fierecilla domada" de Shakespeare.

Los actores eran grandes artistas del momento y "Elstree Calling" se hizo para potenciar los estudios. Algunos sketches son en color. Así que hay quien opina que la primera película en color de Hitchcock no fue "La soga", sino ésta. Pero eso no es muy correcto, pues Hitch no intervino en los sketches en color.

Hitchcock diría años después sobre este film: "Rigurosamente sin interés".
