Estos días se pone a la venta un "pack" que incluye Querencias y extravíos, un CD con 11 canciones grabadas en directo, y JK: Charlas con vago burlón, un libro en el que Javier Krahe conversa sobre su vida y obra con la periodista Paloma Leyra. Las canciones del CD, grabado en el Café España de Valladolid, son rigurosamente inéditas, mientras que el libro, dado el mordaz y fluido verbo del cantautor, promete buena lectura.

Madrid, 11 dic (EFE).- El mordaz cantautor Javier Krahe ofrece "más de lo mismo" en su duodécimo álbum, "Querencias y extravíos", un disco compuesto por 11 nuevas canciones grabadas en directo que viene acompañado por un libro de conversaciones con el cantante titulado "JK: Charlas con un vago burlón".

Este nuevo trabajo de Krahe, que lleva 27 años en el mundo de la música y que ya en los 80 formó el grupo La mandrágora junto a Joaquín Sabina y Alberto Pérez, vuelve a hablar de celos, amores y relaciones con la habitual ironía, escepticismo y humor que ha marcado toda su carrera, ha dicho a Efe el cantautor madrileño, de 63 años.

Krahe recupera en "Querencias y extravíos" (18 Chulos Records) el formato en directo, como ya hizo hace cinco años en "Cábalas y cicatrices" -realizado en el Café Central de Madrid-, aunque esta vez, las canciones han sido grabadas en el café España de Valladolid durante la tercera semana de octubre y junto a su banda habitual, formada por Javier López de Guereña, Fernando Anguita, Andreas Prittwitz y Jimmy Ríos.

La idea de sacar un disco cuando sólo había transcurrido un año y medio desde el anterior, "Cinturón negro de Karaoke" (2006), y encima hacerlo en directo era algo que no estaba entre los planes de Krahe, reconoce el cantautor, quien confiesa que hubiese preferido sacar un disco de estudio más adelante.

"A mí me gusta espaciar los discos, hacer las cosas con tranquilidad y así tener bastantes canciones guardadas para cuando las necesite. De hecho, sólo compongo durante dos meses y el resto del año me dedico a dar conciertos y a estar en mi casa leyendo o viendo la tele", cuenta el cantante, en cuya discografía figuran títulos como "Valle de lágrimas" (1980), "Haz lo que quieras" (1987) o "Versos de tornillo" (1997).

Sin embargo, la insistencia de su banda por volver a grabar un disco en directo hizo que Krahe se animase a hacerlo y ahora reconoce que se muestra encantado con el resultado y también sorprendido de que "milagrosamente todo haya salido bien y rápido".

El disco viene acompañado por un libro de conversaciones "bastante informales" entre el cantautor y la periodista Paloma Leiva, que, bajo el título de "JK: Charlas con un vago burlón", recorre la vida y obra de Krahe, y habla "de tiempos pasados y tiempos presentes".

Ahora, tras 27 años en el mundo de la música, el veterano cantautor -cuya carrera ya fue narrada hace tres años en el documental "Esta no es la vida privada de Javier Krahe"- bromea con que se ve como "un profesional de tomo y lomo" y elige definirse como "un hombre que camina perplejo hacia el ocaso", una de las frases que contiene una de las canciones que ha compuesto recientemente.

The first of two albums that former Ikette P.P. Arnold recorded for Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate label, and titled -- of course -- for her role within that organization, The First Lady of Immediate not only represents one of the most phenomenal voices of the age, but also stands as testament to the creative melting pot that was the label's credo. Recorded over the course of a full year, The First Lady of Immediate draws from a succession of sessions, dating back to Arnold's first dates with Oldham himself ("Everything's Gonna Be Alright" and "Life Is but Nothin'," her first single for the label). Next up, chronologically speaking, come recordings overseen by Mick Jagger ("Though It Hurts Me Badly" and "Treat Me Like a Lady") and the Small Faces ("[If You Think You're] Groovy"), before a lavishly orchestrated "First Cut Is the Deepest" spins out of a fruitful partnership with producer Mike Hurst and provides the album with what remains its best-known track. Despite such jumbled origins, the album holds together well. "Groovy," in particular, is a no-nonsense R&B pressure cooker, leaving one to wonder why the Small Faces (who provide instrumental duties on the track) never got around to releasing a version of their own. Spector/Mann/Weill's "Born to Be Together," meanwhile, is an absolute Oldham classic, bedecking Arnold's soulful voice with a full-blooded production that leaves the original sounding like a jellyfish. Unfortunately, the distribution problems that marred so many of Immediate's greatest releases raised their head once again. Not one of Arnold's singles made more than a mere murmur on the chart of the day, a fate that, in turn, reduced the album to little more than a discographical afterthought. Similarly, the mercenary repackaging that has since so blighted Immediate's memory skips so blithely over Arnold's long-players that many fans aren't even aware they exist. They do, and you should hear them immediately.

Patricia Cole was born into a family of gospel singers, and so began her musical training at a very young age. An unfortunate marriage to David Arnold when she was only 15 brought a period of considerable hardship throughout her late teen years, but she persevered with her musical ambitions in the hopes that it would open the door to a better life.

Her first break came when she won an audition to be one of the back-up singers for Ike and Tina Turner in 1966. After Ike & Tina toured with The Rolling Stones in England, Mick Jagger invited Arnold to stay, and later co-produced her first solo record The First Lady of Immediate (1967). It was in England that P.P. would subsequently establish the main center of her popularity. There she worked with The Small Faces, singing on their hit "Tin Soldier" (1966) and accompanying them on their subsequent tour. The Small Faces would later write hits for Arnold and her band The Nice. After the Nice split off on its own, Arnold worked with The Blue Jays and T.N.T., and recorded two singles with Barry Gibb as producer.

Although still active as a session singer and as a member of several different bands, the 70s and early 80s saw Arnold working most visibly as an actress -- first on stage and later on television. In London she starred in Catch My Soul, one of the first rock musicals. In 1981 she moved back to Los Angeles and made appearances on everything from Quincy to St. Elsewhere to Knots Landing. Finding the Hollywood scene somewhat less than inspiring, Arnold eventually returned to England and appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Starlight Express -- as well as getting her music career started again with more session work and another solo release.

Throughout the 90s and 00s, P.P. Arnold maintained a stream of musical activity, working with the London-based band Ocean Colour Scene, touring with her own band, The Band of Angels, and recording and touring with Roger Waters.

Given all the live documents Gov't Mule issued since the premature death of bassist Allen Woody, The Deepest End is easily the most satisfying. Recorded and filmed during the 2003 Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans, the show features the most astonishing array of guest bassists yet, and so many other guests the date was like a festival unto itself. Among the bassists preset for a night of music that began at 10:10 p.m. and ended at 3:35 a.m. were Jack Casady, Les Claypool, Roger Glover, Will Lee, Jason Newsted, Rob Wasserman, Victor Wooten, George Porter Jr., Conrad Lozano, and a half-dozen others. Other musicians participating in the festivities - many of whom who had gigs in the Crescent City at the same time - include David Hidalgo, Bernie Worrell, Fred Wesley, Karl Denson, Sonny Landreth, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band horns, Béla Fleck, and Ivan Neville. There are two CDs, packed to the gills with music from that evening. The mixture of covers and Gov't Mule originals is, to say the very least, captivating: from the opener "Bad Little Doggie" (given its definitive on-tape version here) and "Lay of the Sunflower" to Goin' Down" and "John the Revelator." The sound is warm and the mix very fluid, very live. The performance is completely inspired and jaw-droppingly sophisticated despite its spontaneity. There are 20 tracks over the pair of CDs, accounting for two hours and 34 minutes total playing time, and the DVD features 20 more and lasts over three hours. There are some major differences in tracks between the CDs and DVDs, making it pretty much essential for Mule fans: covers of "Wasted Time," "Sweet Leaf," "Politician," "Voodoo Chile," and a heft dose of Mule originals. All told, this and Rush's stellar In Rio triple disc are easily the live recorded events of 2003.

¿Cómo se monta una entrada sobre un grupo que no existe? Hace muchos años, cuando el vinilo era el Dios, compré de saldo un juguete de un grupo llamado 'The Volcanoes'. Su único disco, que el mundo sepa, es 'Into the psyche'. Contenía rock de garaje comparable al de los Fuzztones, con letras de psychobilly, y resultaba ser una rodaja de unos tipos que no parecían tomarse nada en serio sus buenas dotes. La producción era clara, no era mala, el cantante tiene una voz sencillamente perfecta para estos músicos, los músicos convencían al escucha. Y digo esto teniendo en cuenta que la portada era un dibujo a rotulador negro sobre un trozo de cartulina blanca. Imagino que las letras eran importantes para ellos porque con el mismo rotu las dejaron impresas en la contraportada, conscientes de que no les iba a dar para sufragar una paginita interior.

Lo pasé como un necio escuchando una y otra vez semejante fiestecilla, y aunque ya había intentado conseguir el disco en 'algún' formato digital, me había resultado meridianamente claro que iba a ser imposible.

Ayer por casualidad cambió la suerte, y tirando de un hilo, llegó a mí el disco en mp3. Escucharlo de nuevo me ha dado la seguridad, que ya tenía, de que por él no habían pasado los años. Esto no quita para que a vosotros os parezca una auténtica bazofia, pero creo que es justo compartirlo, y que lo que a mí me parece una joya del underground, no quede aparcada en la noche de los tiempecillos.

Los mp3 parecían extraídos de cd, pero por un par de defectillos nimios he sido avisado de que el ripper ha rescatado su vinilo empeñado en ofrecer una fina versión para PC's y reproductores varios. Y esto me lleva a la conclusión de que:

a)Es uno de los miembros del grupo, o...
b)No soy el único que cree que merecen cariño.

Por la red la información es tan poca, que solo he encontrado, curiosamente, un video tan pésimo que es realmente un audio, donde aparece la portada del disco entre profusión de píxeles fuera de sus casillas:

pues no sabia nada de esta banda Wagnerian, pero si son comparables a los Fuzztones y es un grupo misterioso me apunto rapido!!!

Marcos se mudo a Madrid en 1999 donde paso a formar parte de una de las mas conocidas bandas de blues españolas, la Tonky Blues band... Después de dos años, Adrián se unió a la banda, primero como batería, y luego ya como guitarrista. Hasta 2002 estuvimos en la banda haciendo giras y acompañando a artistas como Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones); Buddy Miles(Jimmy Hendrix), con los que también hicimos alguna sesión en el estudio.

Después de esa increíble experiencia, ya estábamos preparados para montar nuestra propia banda, Los Reyes del Ko, que toma el nombre por las veladas de boxeo en las que solíamos tocar. En pocos meses grabamos nuestro primer álbum "Coll Vs Costa" con Javier Vacas y Antonio Alvarez y producido por Naco Goñi,que llego a ser el "disco de Blues del año en España".

Tocamos en prácticamente todos los festivales de España, compartiendo escenario con leyendas como Buddy Guy, Solomon Burke, The Faboulous Thunderbirds, John Mayall etc...Estábamos flipándola....!!!!

Después de mas festivales y clubs, de grabar el disco Marcos Coll&Adrián Costa "Home Made Blues" y ganar el campeonato de mayores fiesteros allá donde íbamos, decidimos como buenos gallegos emigrar a Alemania en 2004.
Sin idea de lo que allí nos esperaba, tuvimos suerte y con la ayuda de toda la comunidad alemana de blues, especialmente de Chris Rannenberg y Michael Maass, nos asentamos en Berlín. Desde allí empezamos a tocar en festivales y clubs de toda Europa así como también acompañamos a otros músicos de la escena como Aron Burton ,The Stimulators, Guitar Crusher, Tom Blacksmith, Peter Krausse, Abi Wallenstein, Eb Davis etc. así como también hacer jams y amistad con gente de la talla de Sugar Blue, Tino Gonsales, Angela Brown etc.....Ahora si que ya no podíamos parar de flipar!!!!!

En marzo de 2006 grabamos nuestro nuevo disco "Hot Tin Roof" producido por Chris Rannenberg y co-producido por Keith Dunn y Willie Jackson con una banda de lujo que incluye al saxofonista de Fats Domino Herb Hardesty, a Sax Gordon Beadle etc ademas de otras sorpresas...

En nuestro blues que va de tradicional al eléctrico moderno, tambien se encuentran muchos ritmos funky, soul e incluso raíces españolas como nuestra versión de "La Paloma", todo ello condimentado con un ingrediente X...
Alguna gente nos a llamado los Buddy Guy y Junior Wells españoles... pero nosotros nos vemos mas como los Cheech and Chong gallegos.
En nuestro show solo tratamos de hacer que la gente no pare de bailar y se olvide de sus marrones por al menos un par de horitas, y que por una vez, las abuelas, madres e hijas estén en algo de acuerdo....

Sorprendentemente hemos ganado alguna que otro premio prestigioso como el Berlin Jazz&Blues Award, y nuestros nombres están en los libros de música de los colegios de Galicia!
Pero eso no es nada comparable a la cantidad de amigos que hemos conocido en el camino, asi como los caminos y sitios preciosos que hemos tenido la oportunidad de visitar... eso es lo máximo que nos da la música a parte de la música en si ,y que hace que el esfuerzo no sea en vano! GRACIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pues tocar, tocan de maravilla la verdad. Yo los ví hace un tiempo tocando aqui en la zona vieja en la Praza do Toural y muy buenos. Aunque tampoco lo recuerdo demasiado, estaba llenito..jugando en casa.... Lo que es impresionante es la lista de colaboradores y demás que tienen. Léase es quote para más info.

En el hilo de nuestra radio vi que se sentía cierta atracción por 'Grinderman'. No hay, que yo sepa, ningún archivo en la mula con el disco correcto y completo. Así que lo comparto yo:

Grinderman es una banda formada por componentes de Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: Nick Cave (voz y guitarra), Warren Ellis (violín), Martyn P. Casey (bajo) y Jim Sclavunos (batería).
En su [...] álbum de debut ("Grinderman", Mute 2007) dieron salida a la vena más rockera y sucia que había quedado un tanto adormecida en los últimos trabajos de la banda madre, retomando algunas de las señas de identidad del sonido de los primeros Bad Seeds: aspereza, agresividad y letras lujuriosas.

Me gusta, no en exceso. Es normal, teniendo en cuenta que Blixa Bargeld es mucho más que un músico, y ya no está. Necesito escucharlo un poco más para valorarlo en condiciones.
