Tom Thumb In the Land of the Giants (1999) 3 mins
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0314794
A bizarre and prophetic adventure in which a young boy is chased by a masked
phantom holding a severed arm in a graveyard. Images of twin towers in which
the boy enters and falls surrounded by incandescent panels of light and
debris seem to prophesy the World Trade Center disaster. An man with one arm
appears and is handed the severed arm by the phantom. Then a giant woman
appears enveloping the boy. An unsettling and delerious apocalyptic
atmosphere pervades the movie, designed as a trailer for a "film of the
future."

Nick Zedd
This truly is Nick Zedd's magnum opus. An outstanding piece of cinema which
continues to fascinate every time you see it. Most certainly disturbing but
in a beautiful kind of way. If you are in to transgressive avantgarde
underground cinema then this is a must see.

Police State was directed, starred, edited, and produced by Cinema of
Transgression founder Nick Zedd. Now while Nick Zedd does not even remotely
appeal to mainstream interests, he does enthral a minute portion of viewers
with his aptitude for rebellion, never succumbing to that external sentiment
he does not contend with. Police State is about 18 minutes, yet it does
pack a powerful punch, a kind of punch that might knock your 80 year old
grandma out for the count. I will not unveil all of the film's content, but
I must say that this is low budget punk idealism at its best, and here
Police are portrayed as the cowards and sanctimonious pigs that they are.
The quality and resolution is probably not up to par with what your use to,
but that shouldn't matter, because if you even have the gall to run a search
on Nick Zedd, you probably don't care if the film has one dose of meaning,
just to see ego-inflated cops belittled is enough for consistent
entertainment.

The term "shock value" is a major understatement for this film. Kern's use of
camerawork and lighting is exceptional in itself, but the story line and
soundtrack for his movies are generally designed to jar the audience out of
a passive complacency, and my god does he know how to do that. This movie is
indeed unique in that it attempts to portray a certain sensibility/point of
view without any sort of compromise; there are no holds barred here and the
audience is the target. Surrealistic angst driven to a frenzied pitch by the
music and coupled with a blowjob from hell.
If you are going to watch this, be prepared.... be very prepared.
The Wild World Of Lydia Lunch
Wild World of Lydia Lunch, The (1983)
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0162046
Lydia Lunch .... Herself
Nick Zedd .... Himself
So, what the heck is the point of this thing? I like Lydia Lunch and this
thing made me want to sleep. A lot. Featuring shots of her sitting in bed
being grumpy with overdubs of her grumpily speaking grumpy poetry the only
thing of note or interest in this film is a very cute dog. Amazingly, for a
Nick Zedd film, no harm comes to the dog. Nor to Lydia Lunch.
In fact, nothing happens to, with, for, around, or near young Miss Lunch
throughout the 18+ hours of this film. Or so. I think it's about 20 minutes.
At the least, in Right Side of My Brain, aside from the uncomfortable J.G.
Thirlwell scene, we get to see Hank Rollins whap her upside the head. Not
at all meant to be misogynistic (thought the film is), but at least it's
something.
Bogus Man, The (1980)
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0135167
David McDermott (I)
Lawrence Oliver Cherry
Zedd does it again, this short is based upon the idea the the president
of america is a clone..a Bogus Man. A ski-masked narrator tells us of the
diabolical plot and shows us footage of the presidents fingers being cut
off by his kidnappers and a strange naked woman who waves her bung hole
at the camera while doing a twisted bump and grind. Not much can be said
except watch it, friends of mine found this short more disturbing than
"fingered" and "thrust in me", check it out.
