SINOPSIS
Adaptation of the Broadway musical. Magnolia Hawks is the lovely but protected, and thus very naive, daughter of Cap'n Andy Hawks, the genial proprietor of a show boat that cruises the Missisippi, and his nagging wife, Parthy. She is best friends with the show boat's star, Julie LaVerne, but Julie and her husband Steve are forced to leave when it is revealed that Julie has "Negro" blood in her, thereby breaking the state law by being married to the white Steve.

Aquí traigo mi vieja versión de VHS en VOSE, que ya había posteado previamente en cine-clásico. La copia no es para tirar cohetes, pero tampoco es de las peores que pueden extraerse de una vieja cinta. Quien quiera podrá disfrutar ya de la película con subtítulos.

Respecto a si esta versión es mejor o peor que la de 1951... en cierto modo me quedo en tablas. Como película, sin duda esta es mejor, porque Whale es mejor director que Sidney, la esencia del melodrama está mejor captada aquí y siempre he tenido la impresión de que en muchos de los musicales de gran formato de los 50 a veces interesa más la fotografía en color que cualquier otra cosa. Pero, por otro lado, Ava Gardner es Ava Gardner...

Por la red creo haber visto un DVDRIp VO y subtítulos en Inglés. Si alguien se anima a transcribirlos a partir de tu VOSE tendríamos una copia en calidad DVD...
