FRITZ THE CAT
Esta fábula de Ralph Bakshi, sobre la vida miserable de un gato callejero de Nueva York, está dedicada, con ironía, a los años 60. A través de maliciosos pantallazos de la vida de los hippies radicalizados , la película examina satisfactoriamente los efectos de la llamada cultura alternativa en el pobre Fritz, un gato descontrolado y ansioso, lanzado a las calles a buscar aventuras excitantes. Basado en los comics de Robert Crumb esta versión filmografíca provocó un gran escándalo en la época que se estreno. De hecho la película fue calificada como el primer film de animación triple XXX.
Todo un escándalo constituyó en su día esta adaptación a la pantalla de los irreverentes «comics» de Crumb, más por la introducción del erotismo en un campo tradicionalmente inmaculado como el de los «dibujos animados» que por su pretendida virulencia ideológica, de lo más ambigua y resbaladiza. Por ejemplo en España demoró 7 años en verse y fue seguida de una secuela que no despertó indiferencia. Sin duda un clásico dentro de su genero.
HEAVY TRAFFIC
"Heavy Traffic" es el segundo film animado de Ralph Bakshi. Constituyó el segundo film clasificado como XXX después de Fritz el Gato. En gran parte un film animado con escenas entrelazadas con seres humanos. La historia es extremadamente cruda, nos narra como es el crecer en un ambiente bastante depravado como racista, es quizás una especie de autobiografía de Bakshi de sus primeros años. Como un esfuerzo creativo el film es increíble y fascinante, con una música de fondo hermosa que ayudan a crear una mejor atsmofera de éste. Este film es considerado como la obra prima de Bakshi. Como todo los films de éste, emerge dentro de una controversia por su excesivo realismo, crudeza y su contenido sexual.
