SPECiAL NOTES : As the Criterion introduction will explain, Dreyer
never chose a musical accompaniment for this
silent film. Criterion decided to use Richard
Einhorn's Voices of Light to fill this role. This
is the audio track that was included. If you do
wish to view this movie in it's original silent
form, it is a simple matter of muting the audio.
There was in fact a silent track on the DVD, as
the primary track, however I did not feel that
mimicing the DVD and adding a completely silent
track was an efficient use of space, and that
muting the audio was an acceptable solution.
In addition, while watching this movie, you might
notice a few jerky transitions where it appears
frames might be missing. However, I did verify
these scenes, and they also exist on the DVD
itself, most likely the result of the difficult
nature of this transfer. It is not a result of the
IVTC procedure applied to the source material.
