Vertov and his Kino group produced this lyrical documentary on the lives of Coal miners in the Donbas who are struggling to meet their production quotas under the five year plan. Enthusiasm is most noteworthy for it's creative use of the new sound medium. Vertov liberated the recording equipment from the studio and shot sound on location. He also used common everyday sounds and wove them into what can only be described as a symphony. In fact, after seeing the film Charlie Chaplin wrote: "Never had I known that these mechanical sounds could be arranged to sound so beautiful. I regard it as one of the most exhilarating symphonies I have heard. Mr. Dziga Vertov is a musician.”

As in The Man With The Movie Camera, one's attention is drawn to the making of the film itself as a contribution to the modernization program, epitomizing Lenin's statement, 'Of all the arts, for us cinema is the most important'”

fascinante..la buscaba ahce mucho..los experimentos sonoros del comienzo de la era del sonido son hoy mas que nada nescesarisimos para plantearnos la contruccion de la peliculas mas que el seguimiento de la narracion-talking heads. Viva Spione!

It contains an essential documentary on the restoration of the
film made by Peter Kubelka during several years of hard work: “Peter

Estoy intentando traducir los subtítulos, pero hay un par de expresiones que se me resisten:

1. Make leeway. Según todos los diccionarios, leeway es libertad de acción, margen, carta blanca... Pero, ¿qué demonios es make leeway? He aquí las frases:
We need to make leeway instantly! (que he traducido como ¡Necesitamos tener carta blanca inmediatamente!)
lt must be ensured that the working masses in the mines are included in making leeway. (que no he sabido traducir)

2. ¿Hail es "viva", "arriba"? ¿y cómo traducir esta frase: Hail socialism's achievement the communist mode of operation!?

Sólo me faltan esas frases, por eso no he abierto un hilo en las secciones de subtítulos. Muchas gracias por anticipado.
