Según la imbd:

"Plot Outline: A gay son kills his mother and sleeps with his father in this Japanese version of the Oedipus legend."

"If you really are looking for a good time in a movie theatre - watch this movie ! It has been said that some of Kubrick's visual and sonic ideas for "Clockwork Orange" were inspired by this movie; after having seen it, i'm more than convinced that this is true.

This movie offers a lot of cinematic ideas and it uses surprising ways to make a point within a story."

Inmediatamente he hecho clic y hay como unas 13 fuentes. Hay subtítulos en inglés en Xtratitles.

¡Mmmm!

Sinopsis:
A feverish collision of avant-garde aesthetics and grind-house shocks (not to mention a direct influence on Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange), Funeral Parade of Roses takes us on an electrifying journey into the nether-regions of the late-'60s Tokyo underworld. In Toshio Matsumoto's controversial debut feature, seemingly nothing is taboo: neither the incorporation of visual flourishes straight from the worlds of contemporary graphic-design, painting, comic-books, and animation; nor the unflinching depiction of nudity, sex, drug-use, and public-toilets. But of all the "transgressions" here on display, perhaps one in particular stands out the most: the film's groundbreaking and unapologetic portrayal of Japanese gay subculture.

Cross-dressing club-kid Eddie (played by real-life transvestite entertainer extraordinaire Peter, famed for his role as Kyoami the Fool in Akira Kurosawa's Ran) vies with a rival drag-queen (Osamu Ogasawara) for the favours of drug-dealing cabaret-manager Gonda (Yoshio Tsuchiya, himself a Kurosawa player who appeared in such films as Seven Samurai, Throne of Blood, and High and Low). Passions escalate and blood begins to flow — before all tensions are released in a jolting climax that prefigures by nearly thirty years Tsai Ming-liang's similarly scandalous The River.

OK, by request of seiyuro, here is the trailer for the Funeral Parade of Roses. It is filmed in Matsumoto's distinctive style and definitely deserves a look:

Thanks again helge :D .
Let's cheer on people :

Para aquellos dubitativos:
La preview de "Funeral Parade of Roses" que ha posteado helge79, parece incluír algunas composiciones que no se han empleado en la propia película... un perfecto ejemplo, sería la captura en blanco y negro que aparece en la firma del propio helge ... o la captura que ha puesto ( que tampoco me suena, a primera vista ), por lo que puede resultar interesante a aquellos seguidores de este director :D

Got it !! :D :D
Still got to watch it properly ( on another computer, this one is a so-called oldie ), but curiosity killed me and did a quick preview and ... O_O .... amazing !! ... probably the best trailer i've ever seen . Thanks again helge ;)

Well, this sounds like a bit of an overkill to me...... But, yes, it is certainly very artful...

What amazes me is how meticulous Matsumoto is. Take the screencap I've posted for example (the one featuring a white face). It only appears in the preview as a flickering image lasting a few frames. And yet, the filmmaker(s) decided to go through all the trouble of preparing this single frame as a full-bodied work of visual art. You can't even appreciate all of its details when you watch the clip, unless you freeze-frame. And hey, much did they care! They would still design that single frame as something worthy of an art exhibition... Well, 'nough said...

PS: By the way, I think that the ATG preview for Nagisa Oshima's Death by Hanging is also extremely impressive...

Well, this sounds like a bit of an overkill to me... Guiño... But, yes, it is certainly very artful...
most trailers tend to show just fragments of the movie trying to attract people with powerful images ( so-called arthouse movies are no exception ) ... and that's all ... the fact that matsumoto decided to go all out ( you explained it all much better than i could ) and turn what usually is nothing but another filler into another part of the main movie deserves at least some recognition over too much sooooo-typical trailers ( let mainstream movies out of this, obviously )
PS: By the way, I think that the ATG preview for Nagisa Oshima's Death by Hanging is also extremely impressive...
hmm..... guess what i'm going to ask you now ?

PS : this has nothing to do with the main theme here .... aw, who cares ? i'm sleepy & increasing my laziness /w each minute so :
just watched 3 Yevgeny Yufit movies ( bipedalism, wooden room, daddy santa claus is dead ) and all i can say is that i'm truly impressed ... just dled "silver heads" ( even if there's that much dialogue and can't understand a thing, surely i'll fall by yufit's own imagery ), so my personal ranking so far would be : 1.- Daddy santa claus is dead ( I love it ! ) 2.- wooden room 3.- Bipedalism ...
It's one of the most interesting contemporary filmmakers i've checked recently so thank you X 1-million times and thanks to fitz too for "the wooden room" :D .
Do you know by pure casualty any other russian talents a-la yufit, alexander sukurov or sharunas bartas ( ok, i know he's lithuanian ) ?

Hey seiyuro,

I've released the trailer for Death by Hanging together with the movie itself:

viewtopic.php?t=43024

As for Yufit, I like Bipedalism very much, and I found The Wooden Room rather stagnant. Everything else fits in the between.

I can't think of any other interesting Russian directors that you wouldn't already know, but I visit fonarik.tv quite regularly, so I'll give a word here if they release anything unusual, obscure and interesting...

Hola, he bajado en asiandvdclub el DVD editado por Eureka y he traducido los subtítulos:

 Castellano
 English

Saludos
