The story revolves around a Nazi doctor named Klaus (Gunter Meisner of Wim Wenders Faraway, So Close) who worked in an execution camp and had a fetish for young boys. As his perversion and sadism grows, he becomes more and more daring with his exploits but eventually he grows to feel the overwhelming guilt his actions cause him and he jumps off a roof in hopes of killing himself.

The bulk of the story though, takes place many years later, and Klaus has gone into hiding in Spain along with his wife, Griselda (Marisa Paredes), and their daughter, Rena (Gisela Echevarria). Because of his jump, he is paralyzed from the neck down and confined for the rest of his life to an iron lung. When the burden of caring for him becomes too much for his wife and daughter to handle, Griselda decides to get a nurse.

Enter Angelo (David Sust), a strange an somewhat introverted young man who, for reasons unknown to Griselda and Rena, Klaus insists should be hired. Things take a turn for the macabre though, as soon we find that Angelo has uncovered Klaus’ war diaries that detail his past exploits from the concentration camps, and Klaus begins to relive his past vicariously through Angelo, who is in fact far more than a random stranger looking for a job.

Me pongo a bajarla. Hace tiempo que pensaba ripearla del vhs que tengo. si consigo ésta me curro un dual o directamente en castellano. Pero por lo que veo va a estar dificil la cosa.

Este director a realizado recientemente un documental sobre un tema desconocido al menos para mi. Q Stoy a punto de completar. Hay muchas fuentes.

it's not a real documentary, but it's a great movie nonetheless.

Recuerdo esta peli de haberla visto de muy jovencito y haberme impresionado mucho...y siempre habia querido volverla a ver....no recuedo haberla visto entera pero si tengo algunas imagenes muy impactantes todavia en la memoria.

Supongo que estará en version original no? como veo tanto post en ingles y cosas sobre subtitulos y demas que no quedan muy claros...por favor q alguien me lo confirme.

I tried unsuccesfully to download cd1 last week (cd2 had more sources) and finally gave it up so I´m going to support trep on this one again.I saw "El mar" by Villaronga and it had a haunting effect on me.We can keep informing people about sources and the like on this thread.

Increíble cuanto tiempo.
Yo tengo El mar en video,pero no tengo ni puta idea de como ripear video.Mando un SOS,no es la única película que quiero ripear.También tengo,por ejemplo, 99.9, jeje.

El mar es una película que me enamoró.El color,el ambiente asfixiante, MÓRBIDO, la música envolvnete y minimalista, las pasiones mortíferas, la autorepresión, escenas comprensiblemente cruentas......
