En las líneas motrices, gestuales, sonoras que marcan el recorrido habitual de un niño, se insertan o brotan "líneas de errancia", con bucles, nudos, velocidades, movimientos, gestos y sonoridades diferentes.

El trío alienígena de rock complejo se completa con el guitarrista Chris Trull y el batería Danny McClain. Se trata de música iconoclasta que desafía a la propia música y a sus formas.

GRAND ULENA es una banda de San Luis que no toca en San Luis, pero que se auto erigen como embajadores de dicha ciudad.

Adictos a lo perfecto y a lo imperfecto. Adictos al ridículo y a lo imposible. En su música encuentras ritmos descoyuntados que se tocan a alta velocidad bajo melodías melladas.

GRAND ULENA emplean estructuras complejas y técnicas instrumentales que se extienden hasta perderse en la canción. Polirrítmicos, polifónicos y poli todo lo que tú quieras, es el auge y la caída del rock al mismo tiempo.

De Alex Cline es recomendable también sus discos bajo el nombre Alex Cline Ensemble. Dos de ellos, Sparks Fly Upward, grabado en 1999, y The Constant Flame, grabado en 2001, se pueden considerar como si fueran una sola obra. Sparks Fly Upward contiene una cancion de unos 30 minutos dedicada a la memoria de Andrei Tarkovski, y asi, cada canción y la obra entera hace tributo a diferentes personas, aunque solo en el texto, la música se mantiene en los cauces que marcan los músicos.

En Paramita el motivo es muy simple, realmente se trata de muy poca cosa, y nos sirve como entrada a la música de este disco. Realmente se debe tratar de algo que dura muy poco, y esto necesita hacerse, y necesita diferentes velocidades. El motivo, el símbolo aquí es una palabra japonesa, la cual no recuerdo ahora, y de la cual no dispongo referencia alguna, ya que me faltan las tapas del disco para verlo. La palabra china no es tal palabra, realmente se trata de algo que representa una idea, se trata de un ideograma.

Cada uno de los discos termina con una canción, quizá para darle un sentido más cohesionador... Estas son las canciones más occidentales de esta música:

The Deception Of The Thrush, en español: El Desengaño del Zorzal. Es una recopilacion o guia para principiantes (como lo definen ellos) que contiene varias canciones de sus cuatro ProjeKcts, los cuales son grabaciones en directo y su posterior montaje, al parecer es un montaje aplicado a la grabacion del concierto. Tambien tienen otros cuatro cd's con las grabaciones de algunos conciertos, que no parecen montajes, sino grabaciones directas sin posterior manipulacion.

The ProjeKcts

A particular vocabulary, repertoire or leitmotif has currency for a particular period. Then the wind changes direction and everything is different. The traditional response of King Crimson, when faced with the end of a cycle, is to break up. And in this KC's timing has been impeccable.

Our current approach is different. Rather than disband and cease to exist for a period, we are fractalising into smaller units within the Double Trio and working together, privately and publicly; this, rather than for all six of us to clatter and bang away simultaneously - which is wonderful and frequently invigorating, for some of the time. ProjeKcting is loosening up the band's view of itself and our sense of possible futures.

The practical difficulties of King Crimson working together are immense: expectation from audiences - of repertoire, and what the legendary and august Crimson is, or might be; expectation from the group of what it is, or might be about-to-be becoming; major logistical problems in touring; and the huge expense in putting the full team together, whether to rehearse or tour.

In November 1997 King Crimson began a series of projeKcts by fractals of its six members: Adrian Belew, Bill Bruford, Robert Fripp, Trey Gunn, Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto. The aim of these smaller Crimson projeKcts, or sub-groups, is to function as Research & Development units on behalf of, and for, the Greater Crim and to create music for the next generation of Crimson repertoire. The projeKcts may become as much and as little as they may, recording and touring as stand-alone and independent units.

Part of the Radical Jewish Culture series put out by John Zorn's Tzadik label, Zeena Parkins' Mouth Equals Maul Equals Betrayer perhaps more than any other album lives up to the name of the series. This work is aggressive, energetic, intellectually complex, challenging, and highly structured. At times it reads like the soundtrack to a classic gangster film of the '40s -- the music is often not a stylistic match for that time period, but the feeling of violence and darkness is communicated throughout. Indeed, this is a labor of Parkins' Gangster Band, the ensemble consisting of her sisters and several other supporting musicians, as well as it is a thematic work about gangsters themselves. The theme of Mouth Equals Maul Equals Betrayer is Jewish gangsters in Europe and the U.S. Several spoken word samples help set the tone: archival tapes of New York City mayor La Guardia making a speech about ridding the city of corruption; the courtroom testimony of Bugsy Siegel's mistress; and a few fascinating reconstructed pieces that are in a Yiddish-based thieves language called Rotwelsch. While the spoken word bits do make an invaluable contribution to this album, what really shines are the composition as a whole and the musical scenes within it that evoke a variety of moods. Melodic lines ranging from blues-influenced guitar jams to beautiful chamber pieces to sonic assaults weave and slap each other around, reflecting the changing moods of gangsters themselves.
