Sinopsis: Josie lleva toda la vida trabajando como encargado de una ruinosa gasolinera en el medio oeste irlandés. Es introvertido y solitario, bastante optimista y, de una manera rara, feliz. Pero de repente, la llegada de David a la gasolinera, traerá una serie de cambios a su hasta ahora tranquila y monótona vida. David y Josie se caen bien y no tardan en conectar. De buenas a primeras, aquel adulto solitario se ve reflejado en el joven David, y no dudará en sentarse con él, y con otros chicos de su edad, a beber cervezas en las vías del tren. El tiempo que pasa con David lleva a Josie a descubrir cuales son aquellas necesidades que aún no ha cubierto. Todos estos cambios tendrán importantes consecuencias.
Comentario: Conmovedor retrato de la vida cotidiana y las relaciones sociales en una pequeña comunidad rural irlandesa, monótona, opresiva y cruel, centrada en las experiencias de un hombre maduro, simple, ingenuo y solitario. Está dotada de un ritmo narrativo deliberadamente lento y una gran intensidad emotiva, en el marco de un relato sin personajes positivos o negativos, muy realista, donde destaca la soberbia interpretación de Pat Shortt.Tragi-comedy from the margins of contemporary Irish life. David likes him. They open up to each other and suddenly the lonely adult is drinking cans down at the railway tracks with the local kids. He is awakened to needs in himself that have never been met. And Carmel, from the local shop, who has always been kind to him, stirs feelings within him that he struggles to name. And then one thoughtless moment unravels the threads of faltering friendship.
