Using a collage of individual Argentine exiles in Paris as well as pulsating tango music and talented dancers, director Fernando E. Solanas has patched together a diverse picture of humanity trying to cope with political and social tensions. This disparate group is in the process of mounting a stage play called "Gardel's Exile." The playwright, Juan Dos (Juan #2, Miguel Angel Sola) is busy scribbling away in Argentina and smuggles out his results to Juan Uno (Juan #1) in France. Maria is one of the actresses in the play who has been so long in France she is neither French nor Argentinian. Mariana is Maria's mother, and the lead actress in "Gardel's Exile," and she is having an affair with Juan Dos. Another exile, Gerardo, is desperate to find his granddaughter who was born in prison. And so it continues — an array of people trying to make sense of their lives in exile. — Eleanor Mannikka

I saw a print of this film in a Latin American class a few years ago and was blown away." Who was the director?" was my question. It combined elements of Godard, Bertulucci, and the American musical. The images are as stunning as any by Vittorio Storraro and the story is ultimately uplifting and hopeful as it details the lives of Argentine exiles trying to survive and move on with their lives while in exile in Paris. Brilliant , but virtually unavailable in the states. This film needs to be discovered by film lovers and lovers of the tango.

Hi auess, hi everybody, I saw that movie back in 1985, and liked it very much, would love to watch it again.
I had already started to download it, but I found only 5 sources and less than half of the parts (55 out of 120). Despite that, I keep on trying, in the hope of..........
This one seems to be an italian version, at least the title is written in italian.
This movie has been widely known and appreciated in South America, at least in Uruguay and Argentina, don't know much of the rest of the world, but I do recommend it as a great picture, I should say a must...If we can reach all the parts.

This is definitely one of Solanas's best, superb soundtracks.
(i just wondering why so many rare flicks have italian tags, or allways italian hardsubs...italian TV is superb...

As far as I remember there are no french dialogues, it´s all plain south-southamerican spanish.

La original es en rioplatensis lunfardis diz que español. Pas de français.

Si la chingaron nos enteraremos cuando la previsualicemos, fuentes mediante.

Definitivamente uno de los grandes cineastas argentinos de todos los tiempos, sin embargo despreciado por mucho tiempo por muchos sectores debido a su militancia política en el peronismo (y cuando el peronismo dejó de ser peronismo, fundó el Frente Grande, movimiento político de trascendencia pero poca vida)

La mugre de película está en italiano. Se entiende muy bien, pero pierde bastante la gracia. hijos de su c******* m****, me refiero a la respetable señora que los trajo al mundo.
Hay fuentes abundantes y por lo menos la música no está doblada ni subtitulada ni nada. Igual vale mucho la pena hasta que aparezca la VO.

No se por qué algún retrasado mental pueda tener algo contra Solanas.
-Errores cometemos todos (ser peronista es un error trágico). Cineastas del talento de Pino hay muy pocos, ninguno de sus críticos o "ignoradores" seguramente ni le llega a los talones.
