Starry nights, sunny days
I always thought that love should be that way
Then comes a time that you're ridden with doubt
You've loved all you can and now you're all loved out
Oooh-oooh baby, we've been a long, long way
And who's to say where we'll be tomorrow
Well my heart says, no
But my mind says, it's so
That we've got a love
Is it a love to stay
[Chorus]
We've got a wham, bam shang-a-lang
And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing
Wham bam shang-a-lang
And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing
Looking at you I wanted to say
I think a little emotion goes a long, long way
Careful now don't get caught in your dreams
Look out baby this is not what it seems
Oooh-oooh baby, you've been so good to me
But please don't make it what it's not
Well, I thought we agreed on what we need
So listen to me and I'll tell you what we've got
We've got a wham, bam shang-a-lang
And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing
Wham bam shang-a-lang
And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing
I think you're seeing what I'm saying
'Cause I hear you singing to the tune I'm playing
Now that it's said and we both understand
Let's say our goodbyes before it gets out of hand
Bye, bye baby, I'd really like to stay
But we'll remember the best time in our lives
We had a wham, bam shang-a-lang
And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing
Wham bam shang-a-lang
And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing
Wham bam shang-a-lang
And a sha-la-la-la-la-la thing
Well now that Wham Bam has re-emerged after all these years, I thought I'd share a little background on the history of the recording. Mark Rodney and I had just had the most successful album on Arista in 1975, although we didn't have that coveted hit the label had so badly wanted. Clive Davis brought us two songs that he wanted us to record and release before we recorded our 4th album. One song was Somewhere In The Night which was the best version ever recorded if I do say so myself, and the other was Wham Bam which we also reluctantly recorded. It wasn't that we didn't think it was a hit, but after three albums, the genre didn't seem to fit musically with what we had been doing. As fate would have it, Mark and I broke up right after Somewhere In The Night was released. I formed a new band, Silver and Clive said if we replaced Mark's parts with Brent Mydland and Greg Collier he would sign Silver and make an album which we did. Wham Bam peaked the national charts at a respectable #16. The band went on to tour nationally with America, Doobie, Hall and Oats to name a few and added Harry Stinson and Tom Leadon to make the trio a band. Unfortunately before we could record a second album, we got caught in a political struggle between Clive and our then manager, John Hartman. It's too bad because the band was really great! Oh well, here we are.
