Esta semana no me toca poneros nada, aunque estoy bajando alguna cosita... Además estoy preparando una super retrospectiva de Low, estoy rebuscando entre cds viejos y cosas y espero hacerla la semana que viene. Ya tengo casi todo recopilado. Pondré a compartir algunos de sus EPs que no hay en la mula, etc, etc.
Estaría bien si alguien encontrase el disco de remezclas: Owl remix Low. Que yo ese no lo tengo. Por lo demás creo que me voy a dejar pocas cosas en el tintero.

Cuando me gustaba pasarme horas y horas rastreando por soulseek conseguí algunos Eps de Low, pero no el que tú dices. Nunca pude conseguir uno que creo que se llama Christmas o algo así. Si tengo algo que falta entre lo que posteas, cosa que dudo, lo pondré.

Pues a ver si puedo esta semana. Aunque me va a ser dificilillo, porque tiene demasiadas cosas el DVD este... Le sacaré todo lo que pueda. Lo mejor los videos que no tienen desperdicio.

Pues ya lo tienes hecho. Me ha quedado un poquito grande... 970Mb. Es que en un principio sólo hice 13 videos pero despues descubrí 6 más y al final acabe juntando todo. Las características serían:

Audio: DTS
Duración: 80min aprox.

Yo el Christmas EP lo tengo original y firmadito (jeje, de cuando los conoci en el FIB que les di unos cuantos discos a firmar y me saque fotos con Alan y con Zak).

Lo único que me falta es el disco de remezclas y alguna canción suelta de recopilatorios, fanzines... que puede que no esté en el recopilatorio. Pero no creo que me deje mucho atrás.
Además con las cosas que tengo sueltas (incluida una versión de Do you know how to waltz? de 27 minutos en directo con Godspeed you! Black emperor) haré una carpetilla y la compartiré. También sus ep´s Transmission y el EP que sacaron con el sello australiano Summershine. Bueno a ver si puedo poner todo el fin de semana.

Pues a mi en el FIB los que me firmaron un single fueron Piano Magic (I came to your party dressed as a shadow). Yo tengo el Transmission y otro EP que no me acuerdo como se llama, y la canción con Godspeed recuerdo haberla bajado hace muuuuuuuucho del Kazaa o de Soulseek, pero creo que no la grabé porque sonaba muy mal. Y el Christmas creo que está inédito en la red de redes.

Este disco me parece muy interesante en la discografía de Dylan. Fue grabado en apenas una semana, creo que fue en el chalet de alguien, y Dylan introduce algunos elementos hasta entonces inéditos en sus trabajos, como una guitarra española, y un violín, que le da un carácter más melancólico, peregrino y gitano si me apuran. En este disco se encuentra la versión íntegra de la canción "Hurricane" en honor a Hurricane Carter.

jemenfous, acabas de poner dos de los discos que más me han enganchado en mi vida, y que hace bastante que no escucho: el recopilatorio de The Housemartins y ese "Desire" de Dylan que es una obra maestra como la copa de un pino. Y es que sin valorar a los clásicos, ¿cómo puede entenderse el presente?

Ya lo había localizado, gracias de todos modos mondocane. Informo de que ya tengo el disco de remezclas y creo que oficial, oficial no me dejo nada. Ahora a ver si puedo poner varios conciertos tambien.

PD. Me he pasado por la web de Low y he leido el siguiente comunicado a raíz de la cancelación de los conciertos de Mayo y Junio. Alan, que está enfermo, se explica:

dear friends,

the following is a lot of sentences starting with “i”. i’ve heard this is bad form and it tends to paint a very egocentric picture of the writer. good thing i’m a musician...

low has to cancel the shows we have booked in may and june - perhaps beyond. i have always tried to extend true respect to the fans of our music. it would be very easy to just cancel without proper explanation, and hope that the rumors tipped our way, perhaps adding to some crafted mystique. but, i’m a coward and i’ll leave that to the true artists.

i have not been very mentally stable for the last while. due to this, touring at this time has become too much of a burden on everyone involved. my current problems and instability create undue and unnecessary stress for everyone close to me, especially on the road, so despite coming back from several months of shows we have thoroughly enjoyed playing and being a part of, i have to respect their best judgment. those last several months have been some of the hardest to live through, and it is too much to ask those around me to have to put up with that any more.

for those of you who cling to details and think information is power; i have been speculated/diagnosed with everything from post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, bipolar whatever, suicidal depression/anxiety (“here’s some pills, call me if you are still alive next week - oh, wait, sorry, your small business insurance plan doesn't cover all this...”), to paranoia, laziness, OCD, and good old-fashioned two-faced asshole-ness. i know - “big deal, who doesn't have problems? you have a great and easy life! how bad can it be!?!” i wish i was a better person, and i’m working on that, much in the same way everyone else does. unfortunately, for one reason or another, that battle for me right now abruptly demands some drastic effort, sacrifice, and change - and that’s just to stay in the game... i feel like i’ve come through the worst of it, by there’s nothing uglier than lips speaking vain promises, so forgive me if i’m reluctant to be the cheerleader this time. i need to get healthy, and it’s apparent that something about touring right now is doing more damage than good.

several months ago, amid a couple “bad days”, i found myself standing in front of a photo of John Peel, on the wall outside one of the BBC studios on london. the image of his face in this photo is an image that exposes fools. i was ashamed to even look into his eyes. still, seeing his calm, wise face made me realize i had been letting my own selfish battle with sanity get in the way of the gift of music that i and we all are so privileged to be even a small part of. my thoughts raced. i remembered being in the man’s home and meeting his family. if there has ever been an example of a selfless man, he surely was/is. yet, it hurt more than looking at the sun than to look at him on some piece of paper!?!... in that instant, i knew i was a fool, and that i had become the enemy. to many this may sound like a very weird and/or dangerous realization, but i have a feeling that that moment will be one i will look back upon someday as “where things changed.” - where the eclipse peaked and began to wane. God bless the DJ.

it breaks my heart. i love playing music and i love being able to play it for people, but i love the people i play music with the most. do the math. you have been so kind to us and the people we work with have been patient and selfless through all this, so despite complete faith that everyone probably understands and at least respects our decision, i still wish to extend my deepest apologies to all.

now, to wrap this up, a word or two regarding the individual inconvenience and monetary loss involved: i know this sounds a bit assuming but, in a cosmic, semi-mentally-ill way, i feel every subway fare spent to go downtown to buy and now refund the tickets, every plan made and day worked extra so the day of the low show would be open, every broken heart that was looking forward to feeling my righteous guitar riffs up close and live, and every dollar that will have to come out of the pockets of the promoters of all these shows (i’m serious... despite all the sleazy stuff that goes on the music biz, most of the promoters we work with are very honest people who are not getting rich off what they do, but they still do it because they love music and the community they live in... please go easy on ‘em.)

thank you, and again, i am very sorry. i suggest that instead of going to the low show, go for a walk with a friend or two that day - somewhere where there’s trees or rocks and dirt or plants. i plan to do the same, each of those days, right here in beautiful duluth... or at the funny farm - who knows? either way....

and please please please go out and get the M.I.A. cd!

The 1999 remastering (Columbia-Legacy 65571) supercedes all previous editions, CD or vinyl, of the 1961 album First Time! The Count Meets the Duke, and not just because of the superior sound and the presence of five bonus tracks that add 27 minutes to the running time, although that's a big part of it. The sound is improved, making the original CD release seem like a copy of the LP, from the opening bars of the rollicking "Battle Royal," with that bass right up front. The Sonny Cohn and Ray Nance trumpet dialogue, and the Jimmy Hamilton clarinet and Budd Johnson tenor sax duet on "Take the A-Train" are more thickly textured and more "there" than on any previous incarnation, and Willie Cook's trumpet and Paul Gonsalves' tenor sax solo on "Corner Pocket" are gorgeously vivid. As important as anything else here, the closer sound captures the really hard, swinging nature of the performance on numbers like the bluesy "Segue in C" and "Jumpin' at the Woodside." The new notes, by bassist Aaron Bell and reissue co-producer Phil Schaap, also provide extraordinary insights into the making of this record — with the album recorded more as a genial get-together than an old-style battle of the bands, and packaging only awaiting the approval of Basie, the Count balked at the "Battle Royal" title and jacket design, and his manager, Teddy Reig, supposedly flushed the only copy of the latter down the men's room toilet, thus forcing a reconsideration of the whole concept. The result was a hastily designed cover for an obscurely titled album that Columbia was never fully behind in marketing — that it's lingered this long is, thus, even more of a testament to the power of the music and the good feelings from the sessions.

Lo tengo en incoming, lo he puesto en lanzamiento este fin de semana. Probablemente no tenga muchas fuentes, pero yo lo mantendré allí durante mucho, mucho tiempo.
