Intrusos.George y su esposa Teresa viven casi aislados en una mansión en la playa. Inesperadamente, acude al lugar una pareja de delincuentes. Uno de ellos está herido.
Polanski escribió el guión con Gérard Brach, su colaborador de Repulsión. Se trata de una historia teatral que prácticamente se centra en tres personajes, casi como El cuchillo en el agua y La muerte y la doncella. Además de reflexionar sobre la infidelidad, la violencia, y otros temas, está filmada con imágenes memorables como el plano secuencia de siete minutos en la playa (DeCine21).

The wounded criminal Richard "Dicky" and his dying partner Albie seek for shelter in an old seaside castle full of chickens and owned by the eccentric and coward American George and his slut French wife Teresa. While waiting for the rescue of his boss, Albie dies and Dicky develops a strange relationship with the odd couple.
AMG SYNOPSIS: The fact that there isn't a single likeable character in Cul de Sac does not diminish its artistic value in the least. Ageing, furtively kinky Donald Pleasence is married to sexy young Francoise Dorleac. The couple's hermitlike tranquility is shattered when wounded gangsters Jack MacGowan and Lionel Stander invade their home and hold them hostage. As Dorleac urges her tremulous husband to do something, the two criminals begin behaving in a fashion that can only inadequately be described as eccentric. Drawing upon two of Polanski's favorite themes-isolation and latent insanity--Cul de Sac actually improves upon each viewing, assuming that the viewer has the intestinal fortitude to sit through it once. -- Hal Erickson
