Schlesinger desmitifica el sueño americano con la dura pero emocionante relación que se establece entre Voight -un inocente tejano dispuesto a seducir a las neoyorquinas- y Hoffman -un lisiado tuberculoso del Bronx nacido perdedor-. Dos tipos marginales en busca de fortuna -que sólo encuentran refugio compartiendo sus sueños- y un implacable retrato de la jungla neoyorquina componen este intenso drama, título emblemático de los años sesenta. Sueños truncados.
Dos marginados, un ingenuo "cowboy" (Jon Voight), que quiere convertirse en gigoló, y Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman), un pícaro aquejado de tuberculosis, se conocen en la ciudad de Nueva York. Entre ellos surge una profunda amistad y juntos elaboran un sinfín de proyectos que pronto se desvanecen ante una ciudad que se revela cruel ante perdedores como ellos.

John Schlesinger dirige con acierto este duro drama sobre la vida callejera de la célebre ciudad americana. Excelente es el trabajo de sus dos protagonistas que consiguen magníficas caracterizaciones. La amistad, la ilusión y el desencanto son sentimientos que tanto Jon Voight como Dustin Hoffman consiguen imprimir con gran realismo a sus personajes La película fue galardonada con 3 Oscar en las categorías de mejor película, director y guión adaptado (Waldo Salt). Como curiosidad, hay que señalar que tanto Dustin Hoffman como Jon Voight estuvieron nominados para el Oscar al mejor actor; sin embargo, éste no fue para ninguno de los dos, sino para otro cowboy más veterano; John Wayne fue quién se hizo con la preciada estuatilla por su actuación en "Valor de ley" (DeCine21).

AMG SYNOPSIS: Based on a James Leo Herlihy novel, British director John Schlesinger's first American film dramatized the small hopes, dashed dreams, and unlikely friendship of two late '60s lost souls. Dreaming of an easy life as a fantasy cowboy stud, cheerful Texas rube Joe Buck (Jon Voight) heads to New York City to be a gigolo, but he quickly discovers that hustling isn't what he thought it would be after he winds up paying his first trick (Sylvia Miles). He gets swindled by gimpy tubercular grifter Rico "Ratso" Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman) but, when Joe falls in the direst of straits, Ratso takes Joe into his condemned apartment so that they can help each other survive. Things start to look up when Joe finally lands his first legit female customer (Brenda Vaccaro) at a Warhol-esque party; Ratso's health, however, fails. Joe turns a final trick to get the money for one selfless goal: taking Ratso out of New York to his dream life in Miami. One of the first major studio films given the newly minted X rating for its then-frank portrayal of New York decadence, Midnight Cowboy was critically praised for Schlesinger's insight into American lives, with the intercut mosaic of Joe's memories and Ratso's dreams lending their characters and actions greater psychological complexity. While they may have been drawn by the seamy content (tame by current standards), the young late '60s audience responded to Joe's and Ratso's confusion amidst turbulent times and to the connection they make with each other despite their alienation from the surrounding culture. Midnight Cowboy became one of the major financial and artistic hits of 1969, winning Oscars for Best Picture (the first for an X-rated film), Best Director, and former blacklistee Waldo Salt's screenplay. AMG REVIEW: After earning notoriety as one of the first major studio films to be given an X rating, Midnight Cowboy made history as the first X-rated film to win an Oscar for Best Picture. A brutal depiction of broken dreams and lives asunder in the fetid backwash of the swinging Sixties, Cowboy shocked audiences with its squalid subject matter and signaled a trend towards films that explored lurid and personal material. Whereas the mere suggestion of a blow job in Cowboy was scandalous in 1969, the film helped pave the way for later mainstream films in which a blow job might have as much shock value as the weather forecast. For that reason, Cowboy loses a substantial part of its impact when viewed all these years after its original release. That said, as a buddy film and as an ode to the impossibility of liberation from reality, the film retains a certain timelessness. Jon Voight's handsome but stupid Joe Buck and Dustin Hoffman's desperate, verminous Ratso Rizzo remain iconic figures, symbolic of the resigned, bitter ending of a decade built on the tenets of liberation, progressive change, and the promise of collective struggle. Tanto en Filenexus como en Fileheaven han publicado un enlace de Midnight Cowboy en 1 CD que va acompañado de un pack de subtítulos en 11 idiomas, castellano incluido.
Si no me equivoco tylerdurden ha capturado la película de la TV. No sé qué será mejor, esperar a que la cuelgue (se le acumulan las peticiones) o incorporar el audio español al ripeo de la versión original.
Yo dejo aquí la información extraída del hilo de Fileheaven. Fijaos que el codec es Xvid.

La he visto todas estas veces. Muy buena pelìcula. Las actuaciones de la dupla Hoffman - Voight fenomenales. Respecto a la banda sonora, la canción de Nilsson no se te olvida jamás. Yo, la verdad, he tratado de conseguirme la banda sonora completa pero ando dando tumbos, si tienes algun dato lo agradeceria.

Si va tan rápido funkinvader la pongo a bajar sin pausarla para aprovechar.

esta la hicieron en la 2 hace cosa de un mes o asi. nunca la habia visto pero tenia referencias. la pille empezada, como el primer cuarto de hora me perdi. aun asi, me parecio muy buena. la cancion de nilson es inolvidable, si, aunque ya la conocia. el tema de la harmonica, tambien. y la bso, dificil esta. ando como loco buscandola tambien.

En la mula encontraras la canción de Nilsson de la banda sonora, pero también hay una que no tiene nombre que pesa 3,76 Mb, en una de esas es el tema de la armónica. Yo la estoy bajando.

Hola Derebo. Mira encontré algo que te puede ayudar. Banda sonora es de John Barry, composito inglés. El tema de la armónica corresponde al album moviola, y aparte de eso encuentras en las mula algunos temas de la película no agrupados, con un poco de paciencia los darás con ellos.
